Q. So, you started the server to help rebuild the community? How would you say the Warcraft 2 community was before you started to take some sort of action?

A. It has been on a decline since late 2002 and 2003 on the regular BNET Servers. Hitting all time lows, with the USWEST and Europe Servers about completely empty these days. The East has the only remaining player base which we helped out a little during the summer with our $$ Tournament and Festival, but shortly after its went down also. Now most of the East players are starting to take notice of Server.War2.ru and they are making the switch over seeing all of the new players who are downloading the game.

Q. I remember yesterday being on the server, and you said something about ladder? Can you tell me something about it?

A. Oh yea. Very soon we are putting in our new ladder system. Every game played on Top vs. Bottom and One vs. One setting will count towards your Ladder Score. So now unlike BNET servers you will be able to have Team Ladder, and Ladder hosted on any speed / map available. We also plan on raising a cash prize. The Ladder Season will most likely last for 3-4 months.

Q. Will there be any leagues for players to play on? For example, like a WC3L type of league, or just a ladder?

A. Most leagues in the past few years for War2 has been unsuccessful so until we continue to raise our player base I doubt there will be any popping up. Especially with the new ladder on its way I doubt people will see the need to have them.

Q. So you would like your server to be kind of like a PGTour in a way? PGTour is like… The SC underground so to speak. Lots of the best, of the best play there.

A. Well we will have the best playing here, but also some really new people. All are welcome here, because eventually with enough time anyone can become decent at this game.

Q. Anything you want to say the public about the game that they don’t already know within this interview?

A. It may not be the newest game, but it has survived the last 10 years for a reason. Warcraft 2 is still the #1 Real Time Strategy game of all time. So check it out!
